The Trump administration will propose rolling back the standards implemented by former President Joe Biden last year, sources told Reuters. Biden required passenger cars and light trucks to have a fuel efficiency of about 50 miles per gallon by 2031.
The standards proposed by the Trump administration would require cars to get about 34 miles to the gallon by 2031, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
34 is too high and automakers will continue pumping out expensive SUV and trucks to get around that number. It will also make them use hybrid engines which are still more expensive than standard ICE. It's a good move by Trump but the MPG standard is still too high.

Most of Biden's efficiency rules were impossible to meet with an ICE engine. They didn't want to outright ban ICE engines, they just wanted to make it almost impossible to make and sell one.
