A couple of times a year, my family hops into one of our ICE vehicles and we can drive anywhere we want to. I can get to either coast in less than two 12 hour shifts of driving. How long would that take if I had to pull over every few hours and charge the damn car for a few hours each time? At least twice as long. Fuck that. I drive to get to my destination and only stop to refuel, and only piss when I refuel. I HATE if that take more than 5 mins.
Some guy actually did that, I think it was a shorter drive but he said it took a extra 5-6 hours for his trip vs if he had a ICE vehicle.
All I would be thinking during that down time, waiting for a battery to charge, is knowing where I would already be if I didn't have to stop to let the coal fired power plants push electricity into a car.
