Even if I owned a EV I would not be parking/charging it in the garage. I don't need it burning down my whole damn house if it goes sideways.

From the post:

>There are plenty of reasons to be pessimistic about electric vehicle adoption here in the US. The current administration has made no secret of its hostility toward EVs and, as promised, has ended as many of the existing EV subsidies and vehicle pollution regulations as it could. After more than a year of month-on-month growth, EV sales started to contract, and brands like Genesis and Volvo have seen their customers reject their electric offerings, forcing portfolio rethinks. But wait, it gets worse.

I live in a cold climate, 2 hours from a major city. I can’t trust that an EV will get me over the pass safely due to their poor performance in cold temperatures. Then I have to find a charging station when I get to Denver and again after a day of running errands. Maybe people aren’t adopting EVs because they are inconvenient and impractical for most things people use an ICE car for, expensive and a fire hazard. Also, many people have an A/C outlet outside their home and could charge in the driveway, so the snarky “just clean up your garage” is not helpful. Many people don’t have it filled with junk, they have a workshop, tools, bicycles or other items that can’t be left outside. People should be allowed to use their garage however they’d like. Let them fill it with trash, or use it however they please.

The electrical grid in my area melts (literally) on a 90F day. No way in hell it will support any amount of electric charging.

A couple of times a year, my family hops into one of our ICE vehicles and we can drive anywhere we want to. I can get to either coast in less than two 12 hour shifts of driving. How long would that take if I had to pull over every few hours and charge the damn car for a few hours each time? At least twice as long. Fuck that. I drive to get to my destination and only stop to refuel, and only piss when I refuel. I HATE if that take more than 5 mins.

Some guy actually did that, I think it was a shorter drive but he said it took a extra 5-6 hours for his trip vs if he had a ICE vehicle.

All I would be thinking during that down time, waiting for a battery to charge, is knowing where I would already be if I didn't have to stop to let the coal fired power plants push electricity into a car.
