So I'm in the market for a new car. New new. The used market is fucking stupid and apparently my almost 10 year old Honda is worth $15k trade-in.

My first thought was to stick with Honda, but they seem to have paired their trim levels down and now the base model comes with almost nothing and they don't have the options to add things. You have to go up a trim level. Even the mid trim is lacking features my current mid trim Honda has.

My next thought was Toyota. I was onboard until I read you can't do remote start unless you pay a monthly subscription. Not only is that fucking retarded, that's a deal breaker for me.

So I'm not sure where to look now. What are the Poalr suggestions?

Things I need in a new car: - reliability - good gas mileage - remote start and auto lock (crazy that this isn't standard these days) - Android Auto support

Things I'd like to have in a new car: - wireless android auto\phone charge - moon roof - heated seats - not ghey looking

Nissan trucks are fine. Anything with a CVT is trash.

The Frontier is nice. The current Titan is decent. Sadly its discontinued after this years model. Nissan will be down to only the Frontier (US) and its Kei truck (Japan). Some sources, are saying Nissan will offer 4 distince trucks, by 27, but some of those are not trucks. Instead half of what i see planned are large cars (SUV / Crossover).

Distinction is drawn that all trucks, are body on frame. cars and their sub versions (all crossovers / many SUVs) have a unibody chassis which is less stiff and stable over serious obstacle than body on frame.

Look at the best rock crawlers (these arent real cars - but they can traverse anything ven remotely drivable. All are tube chassis.) The second best rock crawlers, are all body on frame vehicles with much of the body replaced with tube structure, following are body on frame. Ive never seen a serious rock crawler, made entirely of sheet metal (unibody).

I had to look that up about the Titan, this is the first I'm hearing about it. Makes some sense. I hardly ever see one while I see Frontiers all the time (I own one myself).

Hopefully Nissan figures it out. The company is on life support.

They are, and dealing with french car companies has only made it worse.

They cut costs to the bone and stuck that garbage cvt transmission in everything. Now everything they produce is dying at 100K or earlier. and its that transmission they use.

If you change the oil every 20K in a cvt, you can get one to last a little while. but those are designed to fail.
