Funny too, I remember when I worked at Subaru the old folks would come in and do exactly what you said, buying cases of filter and occasionally oil at a time.
There's no real reason not to. If nothing else, then for the washers.
I do the same thing with filters for my Focus. Just buy a case of them at a time and be done with it, unless Advance Auto has their "5 quart + Filter" special on the Motorcraft stuff, then I'll usually pick up a couple of those.
What oil do you use? I had settled in high mile mobile 1 but I'm curious
For the Focus, I use the Motorcraft blend that came in the engine. I've tried synthetic and normal, the Ford blend seems to keep the engine quiet and happy.
The Subaru gets full synthetic like it needs. I usually use Royal Purple since it's not much more than just plain synthetic, and it's usually derived from cleaner and actual synthetic stocks, unlike "synthetic" oil which can just be highly refined oil that's been cleaned up and had it's molecular structure changed.
