Case in point. I have two Toyotas 1 is 12 years old, the other is 6 years old. No plans to replace them anytime soon. My plan is to watch Toyota very closely to see if they start phasing out pure gas powered vehicles. If they do, I will buy the last 100% gas powered vehicle.
They are going to fully move to hybrids eventually, but they do hybrids better than anyone else. They are not betting on full EVs, because they do not make any sense except as a city car with charging infrastructure that doesn't exist.
That is my plan as well.
I did some research and it appears Toyota has said they plan on eliminating gas vehicles by 2040. That means we have about 16 years left. I'm going to bet by 2039, they'll probably only have a single model left that uses gasoline.
I suspect that vehicle will be the Land Cruiser. It is the only model Toyota services globally.
Toyota is planning and betting on Hydrogen power.
