A text book example of how all high tech security is easy to breech.

The best way to stop thieves is to employ extra security measures such as fuel cut-offs, steering wheel locks

Or a manual transmission.

A manually actuated battery kill switch in a hidden (but easy to reach) location will foil thieves. Not a tough addition to just about any vehicle. I once hid a small toggle switch in the back of a dashboard pull out ashtray.

A lot of automotive folks pull the fuel pump relay to immobilize the vehicle on the newer electronic cars so they avoid dealing with error codes and learn mode when disconnecting the battery.

"A 16-year-old was capable of stealing high-end cars."

LOL. The cop said the Camaro was "high-end car".

Higher-end than newer Hyundai's and Kia's I guess. They were/are the hot item because they are so easy to steal.

What are they using to steal these? Flipper Zeros?

[–] 1 pt

Modified maybe, but not out of the box. The flipper is actually quite limited in its abilities without adding modules, or changing the software. Automotive technicians sometimes need to be able to reprogram remotes/fobs. So its just a matter of finding a supplier.
