I wonder what isn't being reported about outgassing from charging or overheating Li car batteries. Most other recharable batteries say to charge in a well ventilated area because of heat and fumes except for ev's

Lithium allegedly does not out gas like lead acid, unless the anode are exposed to moisture. Fast chargers do however, push enough force for thermal run away in damaged cells.

Utility demand charges are a bitch.

50kVA for a fast charger, I have read. That implies 69kVA source for circuit sizing and generate/transform/rectify efficiency (idk, 90%?) 334A at 208V per car, I guess.

More than 5 MW with all spaces full and 3/4 in charging state. They could not afford to fill the lot on utility power. They would also need a capacitor bank to treat 5MW of reactive load.

EE bros check my estimate.

That's a good estimate, and that's two houses worth of full load for one car.

Diesel is the King. Thank you Rudolph.
