They were never meant to reduce carbon emissions. Their primary aim was to allow ICE vehicles to be effectively banned without common people rising up immediately. They knew from the start. It only takes a quick BOTE calculation to see that the power grids of even the most developed countries has no hope of sustaining wide spread EV usage. It was always about severely limiting the free movement of people. Many of the people who are in thrall of the cult of Scientism accepted the lies that EVs will solve everything. They didn't think it through even slightly because they are in a cult and are incapable of seeing anything that contradicts their beliefs.
