I've repeatedly pointed this out in the past. What they really do is migrate the source of emissions. Rather than make them all around town, they concentrate near power generation and manufacturing sites.
As a rule of thumb, the green energy movement is dumb. EVs have many great aspects but are tethered to big tech's control and battery/charge technology sucks. There isn't enough electricity to support this idiocy. Solar and wind at grid scale is beyond stupid. However, for end users it may make sense. Especially when off grid. Beyond this, any grid not expanding with nuclear is a grid engineered for failure.

Exactly. You are not decreasing the pollution. You are moving where it is generated while also massively decreasing the efficiency of energy generation and delivery.
