Well, they weigh a hell of a lot more than a standard sized car of the same type that is not a EV. This should be surprising to no one.
It's not to people who understand that, but to average driving idiot, it should weigh less because there's no engine.
Right, No engine but multiple (usually) motors that also weigh a lot. Granted they technically have less moving parts than an ICE but most people are kind of stupid.
I used to think that it was a lack of effort or applying yourself and that most people can actually do most things if they just try hard enough. Im older now and realize that George Carlin was right and there are just a fuck load of stupid people in the world...and thats a bit disturbing.
the batteries are extremely heavy deadweight in an EV. The motors are probably fairly light in comparison.
