You think’n there’ll be gasoline or affordable gasoline when the shit hits the fan?
Not, I think I need a diesel
I see the same problems with diesel.
A four up team of mules and a wagon for me.
Except you can make diesel from waste oil.
I bought a bike for shtf. Might get one that has an electric motor attached with a solar panel to charge it.
Honestly, look south of the rust belt. Anything there is going to be a ticking rust bomb due to salting of the roads in the north. Look in the poorer areas of the south. Look in the deserts of the south west. Depends on how much time you want to invest, call garages, junkyards, etc. You may even be able to purchase the thing in parts. A frame from Arizona, an engine from Alabama, etc. Parts are plentiful. Just do your due diligence on the engine, transmission and rear end. Make sure it's what you're looking for in the capabilities of the vehicle. Good luck on your search
Thanks. I used to have one when they were cheap
Ohio.
Too rusty?
Shits on sale there. Just make sure you wash it good.
In all seriousness, for that age you need to look for Arizona, NM, Texas, Nevada to get it not looking like Swiss. Better get a choice one because parts are a bitch, all the internal plastics have degraded and the fuel tank is likely rusted. Search big burb on YouTube for a good build for shtf.
AZ here, running old trucks still fetch a premium. Tons out here on the roads tho. I would recommend a Jeep Cherokee 85 to 2001. Not a grand Cherokee, just a Cherokee. With the inline 6 engine, that is bullet proof, 400k is easy to achieve on these motors. Parts are cheap for them, and you can turn them into monster offroaders. You can buy them from $500 to $2000 More if they are already modified.

I'm all for an old school 4wd, but something like that is going to be eating gas left and right. I'd get an old school 4wd 4 banger for a shtf situation. Btw, I own an 86 4wd f250.
Craigslist?
These days they charge you to list vehicles. WTF, I know.
You have to dig. I found a '78 squarebody truck on a backroad in Texas.
