Regarding gasoline, there was a service alley above my parent's place in the small town where I grew up. I mean this was barely a road, and if you didn't know it was there, you'd never know it was there. Every few days, an ice cream truck would take it and we'd all go to it. I remember the truck was kind of old and had that worn out engine smell from the exhaust. But even now, when I get a whiff of that kind of burnt-out engine, it reminds me of that ice cream truck when I was 3.
