> I'd Love to have a 69 or 70 El Camino but WHY? it'll almost never go out so what's the point. In any case. I hope he finds something he likes and is happy with.
This is why i was making the point. You get one, and then want to keep it so nice you never use it. Even the base models.
My first car was a 70 Malibu actually. this was the 80s, and it was clapped out 4 door. I regret the teenager things I did to it. But I also had a great time with that car! Welded shut the rear doors. put in 454 from a yard, scrounged up an edelbrock, a holly and some headers, mated it to a th400. brakes? body work? paint?... kek... I did eventually have to get actual exhaust on it, i was getting pulled over way too often. drove it till I got out of high school, sold it for way more than I had in it. I should have known right then.
Today, no one would treat that car that way. even the 4 door malibu...
Which is why I personally dont recommend classic muscle to anyone who isn't already well versed.
Those guys, arent asking questions like this, here.

WE used to refer to those a FAKE HYPO'S. My cousin did something similar with his 70 impala right down to putting a T handle on his column automatic lol
