Any of you here familiar with Liquid Piston engines? Would the diesel variant be theoretically better suited to burn fuels like veg oil compared to an OM606?

Any thoughts or ideas on this.

I don't even know what turbo charged means and the last time I did anything on a car was to jump it. Back in the day I once changed out some shocks by following instructions in a book "How to Keep Your Honda Alive."

Before that I think the most technical thing I did was back in school, taking off the breather cap and pouring gas into the carburetor to get it started.

Oh, I have changed flats before, I also have push started a manual transmission Dodge Dart before.

But I'm thinking, I'm not the guy you're looking for.

Although, one time back in 1971 when Led Zeppelin's Black Dog album first came out I was driving a long ways in my 1963 Rambler to see my buddy's girlfriend (yeah there was no honor among thieves) when all of a sudden...oh nevermind.

At any rate can I get an upvote but don't tell @AOU that guy doesn't like me although I'm much whiter than he will ever be.

Edit. I forgot, we also used to turn this chick's VW beetle around in the school parking lot. I don't think that would be counted as NOTHING.

Okay you're right on this, thanks man.

Sure, I can give you an upvote. All you have to do is stop disrespecting Paul McCartney.

Thanks man.

I will lay low on it for two days.

Turbine engines are where it's at for fuel flexibility.

There is a lot of science that goes into combustion engines.

Diesel engines have higher compression ratios (historically) as they used the compression as the ignition source. Sometimes the fuel needed to be heated with glow plugs to combust in cold temperatures.

I bet you can find out of date books covering the subject of fuel mechanics.

Combustion and Emission Characteristics of Straight Vegetable Oils and Diesel Fuel Blends - Scientific Figure on ResearchGate. Available from: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Figure1-Flash-point-for-diesel-and-different-blends-of-vegetable-oils_fig1_312264033

Turbine engines are great, but they aren't suited for low revs. Also they won't have the fuel economy and are most likely harder to make than a Wankel or Liquid Piston engine.

Wankel engines are a great intermediary between turbine and piston engines, but they have the problems with their apex seals wearing out. That brings us to the liquid piston engine, basically and inverted Wankel.

I wonder if these LP engines are easier to make than a piston engine and more simpler to put together. If there are no piston rings and valve system, that makes it much easier to assemble, less worries about the fuel gumming up anything, and overall lighter.

Less moving parts means less things to fail. Usually it also means less variation for inputs and outputs.

Never heard of it before. It's basically a Wankel. Wankels have plusses and minuses. Wouldn't be any better at handling different fuel mixtures than a standard piston engine; which could actually be pretty good given good combustion monitoring and fuel injection.

Found this video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLtyNtf9_ew

Not too fond of the design. Running the intake through the shaft means the shaft is hollow which isn't as strong as a solid shaft. There's also a lot of marketing-speak that really doesn't mean anything.

Gonna opine that you shouldn't fiddle with this unless you mind taking a big risk.

Hmmm, maybe a Wankel is still better. Or maybe they should create a different intake system.
