No reason well built car can't last 20 or 30 years. The whole idea is you got to throw away a car after 4 or 5 years is ridiculous anyway in my opinion. The greatest sucker of personal wealth is new cars or leasing new cars. Everybody bought a car and held on to it for 25 years they'd all be rich if they just saved and invested the money that they would have spent on their new car and that insurance the new car will required because it would have had a loan on it.
20 years, sure, but I think 30 is probably pushing it unless you drive very little. I'll probably get 20 out of my one car, but it's just going to get to the point where it's mechanically fatigued because it will have almost 300k on it.
