"You'll own nothing and be happy."

(post is archived)

Just got that image of that Stephen King movie with the semi's circling driverless around the truckstop where the human drivers are hiding.

Also thought about that rolling stone reporter that crashed with his car running at 80mph into a tree sober which many thought was remote controlled to kill him after he interviewed a US general. They'll use the cars to haul us to prison or internment camps and no one will know since they can't drive around to investigate without the people in charge knowing their every move.

Although, by legal opinion, courts likely would not allow manufacturers to disable essential functions that affect a car’s intended operation—you know, as a car—anything else could be fair game for pay-as-you-go licensing: infotainment apps, comfort options like a heated steering wheel, or maybe even features that define a model’s dynamic character, like a sport sedan's horsepower and torque parameters or suspension settings.

Good thing I don't care about (or even want) most of the stupid bells and whistles. If these fucktards think a software update is gonna stop me from turning a heated steering wheel back on they've got another thing coming.

They can probably get city dwelling bug people to pay a subscription for air but as far as I'm concerned if I have it, I own it.

I think they mean you won't be able to register and likely even find gas for it so it'll be out of gas or illegal since they will ban gas powered non self driving cars. I think they mean not a choice and likely the parts like filters will not be sold in the near future.

That's why I think my next car will be a diesel. They'll need diesel trucks for transport for a long time.
