The whole EV 'revolution' is such a farce. And a scam.

In North America there are 3 competing plug shapes so even if you discount how relatively scarce charging stations are you have to worry whether the station is compatible with your car's plug.

And then there's charging times. The fuller the charge the slower charging takes place. So while you may be able to get to 40% in 30 minutes on a Supercharger getting to 70 or 80% takes considerably longer than an additional 30 minutes. If you can get all of your errands done that day on the single charge you had when you left in the morning then that's fine. But if you need to charge then not only is there the dead time while you wait to charge -- assuming you don't also have to wait for a spot to open up -- but you end up with less than a full charge. I've driven an EV and so-called range anxiety is real and it fucking spoils your day.

Running out of juice while on the road is a major PITA. You can't tow an EV, so either you need to load it on a flat bed or have a generator brought to you. Neither alternative is appealing so instead you worry excessively about how far you can go with the charge you have left. And if it's cold you're going to be reluctant to run the heater so that mean you're riding around in your fancy high tech car all bundled up like it's a sleigh ride. Not to mention the car's battery holds less charge when it's cold.

Nope, EVs are not the solution to climate change/the energy crisis/CoViD-19/Russia/ etc etc etc. EVs, at least for now, are a novelty and a gimmick, nothing more.
