Depends on how the car senses the module is in place. Could be as simple as matching the resistance of the module.

Not anymore. Most modules use the CANbus network to communicate. Even lightbulbs in cars can have CANbus on them to determine if the bulb is good or not. Resistive detection phased out decades ago.

I searched "canbus spoofing" and got a bunch of results. Seems doable.
