So have I. Whatever.
Some kid showed up in a POS Camry, squirreling around the course. It was kinda a joke. But he had a good time and he kept showing up at every event. People started cheering him on and I could tell the kid started feeling like a hero. Was he fast? Doesn't matter. Even if you're fast as shit what are you gonna be, #5001 fastest driver in the world? It's not a serious thing imo, it's just for fun and the community is cool as hell, worth it for the experience. All the fastest drivers started doing go-carts at age 11 already anyways.
That's exactly what I said...? Have fun with what you have but don't waste money on a shitbox.
More or less, I was thinking more get on the track and go from there. If you like it you'll spend the money on what you need because you enjoy it. Spending money ricing out a street car is a waste but if you get into the sport it's much more rewarding for the money you spend. But yeah don't be the guy with a $30K CRX, lol.
I mean tires are really all you need to have fun. If you actually want to compete pick a class with cheap cars and buy a competive one and put good tires on it and learn to drive. Most classes don't allow for a ton of modifications anyways. Assuming you actually want to be in a class.
