Imagine how good she would be if she read a racing school textbook instead? Yeah knowing how the clutch works and the diff works and all that helps you shift smoother, choose gears more appropriately, and maybe you can intuit engine breaking or blipping the throttle on downshift... but also there is a whole field of study around weight transfer, grip limits, braking and shifting techniques, recovery/drift, etc. Skip Barber droves a lot better than his mechanic I'm sure.
Then again if you are reading about racing you probably need to be a half decent mechanic anyway or filthy rich.
I would practice spinning out and recovering in my highschool parking lot.
