Why would they think this is a good sales decision?
I'd no really passionate opinion on this one way or another, but I did get two responses when I posted this on voat (voat) that might be telling of where the culture is steering people to go.
Thing is, it doesn't matter. There are both insane benefits and risks to the advancement of auto-driving tech. I can definitely see this moving forward regardless of what anyone does or says. Much of the hardware that makes it possible can be cudgeled from the right combination of tech and toys already on the market.
If this stuff is perfected, it goes without being said, I wouldn't recommend it to people unless they can get their mechanic to install a manual kill switch that enables me to completely disable the computer in the event of a crisis. I want to be able to reach over to a switch with as much ease as my parking brake to shutdown the operating computer and take command of my vehicle.
I don't think a kill switch will be possible as all the computer systems will be or already are integrated. Killing it, would make the car inoperable.
It probably won't matter in the future, I expect will we see fully automated cars in the next 10 years. Then we can get as drunk as we want!!!
