The bulk of EV issues are without question the batteries themselves (full lifecycle and associated geopolitics). Which really means if battery issues can be resolved EVs look very good. Which is a big, "if". But this doesn't change current battery technologies have very serious shortcomings. Yet people need to make distinction between current batteries, near term battery technologies, and EVs in general. The anti-EV crowd would be much better served to be forthright about this.

I'm endlessly accused of shilling for pointing this out - by both camps.

Yeah, battery technology isn't there yet. We're going to need a faster charging method (supercapacitor probably) and more charge stations.

Yes, essentially what I said. Our current batteries suck. Until they're better and cheaper, gasoline wins for convenience and energy density.
