Okay, best selling *car* model. As shown in the table at the bottom, these stats don't include anything that's not considered a basic passenger car. In 2020 Ford pickups outsold the Camry by more than 2.5X.

That's to be expected though. GM, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota make pickups and that's about it. Everyone makes a midsized car. The field of competition is much wider in that market than in the truck market.

Toyota killing the competition with cheap, reliable, easy to repair cars. Seems the Japs beat out the modern, faggoty, American Auto industry. They got the two sided game going too, with every sand-nigger revolutionary unit using their trucks.

Can you say you wouldn't want a Toyota Hiluxe with a 20mm anti-air system on the back?

I've tried to drive primarily American cars over the years, simply because they used to provide a lot of employment in the US, but for at least a decade now, more money from the sale of a Toyota stays in the US than does any other car manufacturer including Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler.

Toyota has been very kickass for a very long time, we always had a land cruiser and a corona in the driveway when i was a kid, dad was a fitter and just fixed the damn things himself. The engines on the Coronas went for years after the body had rusted out of the cars and his FJ40 he sold for almost the same amount of money, that he had bought it new 30 years earlier (original 40's in top condition are worth a small fortune)

I ended up being a Holden guy so ive ended up owning a run of those for the last 20 years lol and you kind of get used to a certain kind of performance with them, sadly theyve all been autos but have real actual gearboxes in them, but since dad died the old lady has always had manual corollas which up until maybe 5 years ago were always solid and you could thrash the shit out of them. The one shes got now is one of them newer ones with a fuckin CVT in it which is dangerous as shit as if you try to get away in too much of a hurry the fucker just revs out and goes nowhere and everything in it is dodgy and plastic as fuck.

Then i started having to rent cars when i didnt have one myself and found myself in Kia Ceratos... if i got told to go buy a fleet of cars at the moment id be looking at those.

but if you're an Aussie, then you're talkin diesel... wish we could get the D4D's in our Tundras and the new LC300. Nope, we have to settle for Lexus Prados and LC's now :(

Toyota camry has only lost once in the last 23 years. Jfc.

It's a good car. Most Jap mobiles are decent.

My Jap mobiles are like 15 to 20 years old and run like champs. Only thing that lasted that long was my dead godmother's Mercedes 190e. She loved that car, it was in an accident and the car burned to a crisp. She died of cancer a year later.

She was such a strong woman, built a business out of nothing, lost the business, and everything. Built herself back up, only to die of cancer.

I prefer Hondas over Toyota. Toyotas are great people carriers but Hondas actually have some torque and ability. They last just as long and their resale value is higher.

I have an S2k with 212k miles on the clock on it's 3rd engine. I have a super low mile AP2 with 38k miles now, nearly showroom. A cbr600, and an CR-V. Anyone that likes Hondas is A ok in my book. The first car I ever rode in the driver's seat was a Civic, my old man would let me steer while he used the pedals. I discovered the closest route to grandma's house. That civic got us everywhere in Peru, never gave us a problem until my mom broke the rear view mirror, she's had horrible luck with cars since.

you could pretty much replace the cutlass and the escort and taurus with Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon and you get almost identical results. Camrys were built around the corner from me here for 40 years.

GM America demanded bailout money from the Australian government simply because they owned the Holden brand which was fully profitable and got told to go fuck themselves, so they raped a multi billion dollar investment in the VE/VF Commodore which was actually available in the us but they never advertised because they didnt want it to sell and announced they were shutting down our factories, then went and opened a new plant in mexico and payed GM workers a fat bonus and started importing shit korean cars aussies would refuse to buy, intentionally branded a front wheel drive hatchback piece of shit with some crap 2 litre engine a 'Commodore' (it probably would have sold if they had just called it 'Insignia' which is what it is... as it happened, no one who had bought commodores for decades would go near them) and shut down a 100 year old brand. Ford then decided they didnt have to compete locally anymore and shut down their manufacturing here and fucking up Geelong, and then Toyota just shrugged their shoulders and fucked off as well.

Oh before shutting everything down, just to fuck with us a bit more, see that chart up the top there i compared with our cars? Yeah all of those brands went 'oh Australians dont want family sedans anymore, no one buys them (despite Camry) Australia wants SUVs!' and then started pumping out shit toy steroidal two wheel drives, or over the top massive 8 litre trucks that cost upwards of $80,000 for less than what youd get in a decent traditional 4wd. (looking at you Raptor and Laramie)

Funny thing with the Ford shit they build now is other people can link your car to their fucking phone and do all kinds of funky shit with the ford app (remote starting, tracking, shutdown, etc) which got to be a bit of a problem with rentals in the US for a while.

Such ugly boring looking cars the only cool looking car there is the 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme.

I grew up in a Ford family and married into a GM family. I can get discounts on both brands but will only buy Honda, Lexus and Toyota.

It's a shame Ford pulled out of the car market. They were killing it there for a minute with the Taurus, but my favorite's always been the Focus. I daily drive one now, and despite being 13 years old the car still kicks ass. Wouldn't mind picking up a Taurus SHO at some point though.

Fiesta ST, I was dreamin of buying one recently, but more sensible (non-20 yo) side said no.

I considered that too and ended up at the same conclusion.

14 years on my focus. Going to try for 300,000.

My other Focus has like 230 on it. That one's my toy though. I'll probably end up blowing it up. My daily has around 120 on it.

I'm at 219,900 today. That was the first new car I ever purchased, got my money out of it. I'd buy another one just like it if I could get it.
