This was just a coolant line for the battery, not an electrical line. It's a cheap ass plastic fitting that's (not at all) protected by another piece of cheap plastic on the bottom of the car. After all, it's not like there's ever been any road debris that you'd run over. I've certainly not run over many things, including a broken shopping cart that was in the middle of the road.
