Yes but you see the car will have been designed with electronic assistance from day one. When you turn it all off it will be an overly twitchy death machine with no feel.

If you want the "driver's car experience" V8-12, manual/gated manual, no assists, chassis sans 1K lbs in safety crap, sensors and seat motors... you better do it now cause those late 90's early 00 cars are only getting harder to come by.

I have an '01 Focus with an ABS light on. That count?

What's the year... I want a magic number. I have enough money to buy a car, in one shot, with zero jew-banking-shiftiness. My next car has to be empire-collapse-proof. I will literally take any suggestion to have; I'll average them out soon and figure out what to buy.

Lol, if you want empire collapse proof you need a 4x4 diesel, they can run on anything and are built beefier and last more miles/through more neglect. An old military hummer would be ideal, but they are terrible, slow, fuel guzzling daily drivers though. A 4X4 diesel pickup would be a more realistic daily. Jeep if you want to be Mr.Offroad (but they are expensive and fuck Chrysler/Dodge). Or at that point just get a cheap ATV because how far are you really going to be going on unmaintained, heavily patrolled/raided/blockaded roads where a 5 gallon tank of gas is worth more than your children?

If you just want something fun to buck the modern car trends manual C6 corvette all day, nobody wants the 05-07 because they are slightly slower when compared to the 08+ (more displacement) but 400HP out of the box is no joke even for today and driving a torque-y V8 after 15+ years of 4 cylinders is a revelation. They have some electronic crap but it's from the early days, it only kicks in after the rear breaks out, lol, and all that shit can be disabled or bypassed too, the chassis didn't really change from the C5 (which are also good but have less parts availability and often go for similar money). If you can't afford that I would look at early 370Zs/G37s (they haven't changed at all from their early models, I'm not really a fan of modern Nissans myself though), Subaru WRX is all wheel, does great in bad weather but definitely not a jeep (+ low mileage or be prepared to replace the head gaskets/the boxer makes maintenance a bitch), 4th/5th gen mustang, old police cars (maurauders, crown vics, etc.), NB miata if you don't mind people thinking you are a poofter (and you want to make it faster cause it's fucking slow). The S2K is overhyped and overpriced, same with the BRZ/86/FRS, Supras are un-obtainable. Avoid German's (including Mini Coopers) at all costs, unless it's literal throw away money, those are leasing cars. None of them are going to really get far across the wasteland though.

Everything in automotive is a tradeoff.
