First, sure, she’s a cunt who absolutely influenced this guy to sell his dream car, and that’s really fucked.
However, OWNING a ‘dream car, vs idolizing a ‘dream car’ are two very different things.
I’ve owned a number of vehicles over my life so far, several of which have been dream cars. And without exception, every one of those dream cars (actually ‘dream vehicles’ because there were a number of motorcycles in the mix) were giant pains in the ass. It was great to have them for a while, but after a time the maintenance and upkeep and cost and often impracticality just became too much to bear.
Every ‘dream vehicle’ has its time. These days, because I have the money, I’d totally take a modern car over a classic for every day driving. If I had the money (and the time) to own both, then I would. But I can understand maybe why this guy gave up his dream car.

My dad had a classic car - it was a beautiful 1960's Firebird (I remember when he installed seat belts in the back). It wasn't a daily driver, so it spent most of its time in the garage. As us kids were getting older, days which would be spent cruising around were instead spent at soccer games, home maintenance, etc.
Anyway, you can't keep them in the garage indefinitely and expect them to appreciate. They need to be driven or the gas goes bad, connections corrode, paint chips, and leather cracks. Plus classic cars don't appreciate that quickly, it's not a good investment.
So my dad sold the car to some young guy who would appreciate it and drive it, using the money to keep a roof over our heads during a few lean years.
