Not speculative at all. Tesla's recommended charger is the "turbo charger". It can charge your vehicle in about an hour and a half. It requires a 240v, 90amp breaker. Most homes in the US built before 1970 with out an electrical upgrade couldn't handle that. And even if every home had a 200amp service, the electrical grid and utility companies couldn't handle the load of a 5 o'clock rush hour of EV charging. Hell, utility companies have to regulate home air-conditioners with smart boxes to handle peak loads during prime time in the summer, and most air units are 240v 30amp.
Just because something has less moving parts, doesn't mean it's better. I did HVAC automation for many years. One thing we did was replace old, pneumatic/mechanical systems that had been in place for 50years, with new electric PLC controllers and electric actuators. While they are more energy efficient, they require much more maintenance than the old mechanical systems. The old system was able to be maintained by your average old general maintenance guy. These new systems required electricians and programers to maintain them.
Im sure you've seen a circuit board. So you'd know that there are probably more parts in your tablet than there are on a basic chevy 350 motor. One tiny little transistor, diode, capacitor, resistor, whatever goes bad, it quits working.
Sensors and and those kind of electronics... It's mind blowing how often a bad sensor with send an entire system into shutdown.
After working on these type of systems, it would be hard to convince me that EV's are going to superior to conventional engines.
Don't get me wrong, I think electric cars are cool. They do have superior torque and some other bad ass features. If you live in town, it would be justifiable. Otherwise it's a tough sell
The fact you wrote that while ignoring what I actually stated is amazing.
Electric vehicles are superior in every way to ICE
Your words.
Just thought I'd share with you why that's a false statement. That's all...
Keep the full context. Share with me the face palm action.
