He mentions that they aren't rare at all. Just seems like a writer looking for some clicks. Purists don't consider the super a real beetle. Main difference, as he points out, is suspension with others being brakes, larger body (supers are fat girls), and interior. Most changes were really good improvements IMO but I'm not a purist.
