Much of the gay in the west is home grown faggotry and always has been. The people who run our countries have never considered you to be part of their tribe. Previous generations knew this and likely received detailed educations reminding themselves such. That's why there were and are so many sodomy laws and other anti-gay policies all across the English speaking world which endured even after the end of the British empire and the establishment of the English commonwealth.
