I was in high school when gay marriage was a major talking point. I was thoroughly indoctrinated in public school. I came out of high school a total libshit, and I was on board with the idea that gays should be allowed to marry. "What they do in their bedroom doesn't concern the rest of us, maaan!", I'd say. "Those dumb republicans are falling for the slippery slope!" I thought, all they want to do is marry to gain the same advantages that marriage grants a man and a woman as far as tax breaks and shit.
Surely, they won't want to adopt kids, and they would be private people and you probably wouldn't even know they were gay! And they'd certainly never try to force their views on other people. If you can't tell, I hadn't been around faggots while growing up.
Not even 20 years later, we have drag queen faggots reading to children in public fucking libraries and the whole trans thing came into the mainstream for some fucking reason and it's being pushed on literal children. I wish I could go back and slap my teenaged self in the face, and just say "The slippery slope is a real thing, idiot". I wonder how much differently I'd have turned out?
I had a similar experience but the more I embraced gay culture the more I realized there wasn't a single gay person I knew personally that wasn't horribly abused, and any trans I knew were horribly raped and gaslighted to hell and back. After reading some studies and hanging out on places like poal I started to see the big pictures.
