then I would argue that I see a lot of them working and paying taxes.
Actually you see them doing menial tasks for companies paying them less than minimum wage, with the remainder of that wage being made up by tax dollars. They very rarely work more than a couple hours in a day, or more than a couple days in a week. It’s legitimately a tax-payer subsidized daycare so the parents can get a bit of a break from their adult children every now and then. And who doesn’t envy that kind of life??
I also don’t disagree with anyone else you named, but in making these statements I primarily think of people who legitimately cannot lead any kind of . Their existence brings no benefit whatsoever to them or to their families or to society; they would have been left on the side of a hill in past societies and I don’t really understand why we’ve reached a point where a genetic mutation can equate to ruining the entire lives of the family while simultaneously financially draining from the rest of society
How much do you think the average person would judge a parent for saying that their child ruined their life? Of course they put on a strong face, appear happy in public, as most suffering people do. But would YOU want to spend your days bathing and dressing and caring for your adult child for the remainder of your life? And while you’re forced to do that, I’m forced to contribute to the disability and welfare checks you receive on your child’s behalf.
If a family wants to keep a retarded child then they should have the option, but they shouldn’t receive government assistance for it
Your tax dollars have been spent on much worse things
I did say at the beginning that they were low on the priority list, but being a minor problem doesn’t mean they’re not a problem. That’s like saying you should refuse to get new brakes because you need transmission work
So do it one better than prohibition? "Alcohol is legal, and we are going to market the fuck out of it, but get addicted to it, and it's the rope!"
