Much of modern Canada was shaped by Justin Trudeau's "father", Pierre Elliot Trudeau, who held office from 1968 to 1984 (with a brief 9 month hiatus from June '79 through March '80).

During his tenure, the Dominion of Canada became Canada, it officially adopted multiculturalism, it changed its flag from the Red Ensign to the Maple Leaf, it officially adopted bilingualism, it barred the Bank of Canada from issuing interest-free loans to fund government projects, and it abandoned the gold standard in favour of fiat currencies. This has lent heavily to Justin's royal complex and the general destruction of Canada as an ethnically harmonious country.

For those interested, here is a link to Canada's previous flag, which has now been deemed offensive and racist.
