Go up against, likely numerous, well trained and fully outfitted cops? No thanks. If there's no chance it will be a fair fight then I am either leaving or not showing up in the first place. There's too much at stake. Not to mention what good am I to my family as a brain damaged invalid when the fighting really starts.
Sure there are vids of lone guys getting the upper hand but those are the exception. Cops are generally not going to intentionally put themselves into a situation where there's a chance it's not going to go their way. Even in this video it's clear the cop has full control. Presumably the guy won't stop running his mouth so the cop let's him have it.
But you are 100% right; the real issue here is that this is exactly what they want. Namely to win by submission.

You are absolutely correct. But in my experience true heroes and leaders are in short supply, and capable competent ones are even more rare. I am not one of them. And I'll wager neither are you.

I agree with you, but you would lose your wager. I am a leader, and it only takes the choice of one to stand up and others will follow. Be the man that runs to the car crash. The other people will respond once you do. You won't be alone if you stop worrying about being alone. Most people are followers, and need to see someone else act before they will. If that is you and that's what you want that is OK, I'm not judging you for it, but if so seek out a leader that you believe in and be willing to act when they do. Otherwise it's not following, it's cowardice.
