Edit: https://pic8.co/sh/Ed9ON0.jpeg police reported to 680news the amber alert was an error. There is nothing wrong at the power plant.

tweet says emergency crews are being dispatched.

Apparently everyone near the plant had been issued anti radiation medication in case of a disaster.

Power generation numbers all seem normal. https://www.sygration.com/gendata/today.html

Alert, there is no problem. It's not as embarrassing and irresponsible as they think, because nobody reads these cell network alerts after they spammed them with mother/father "abductions" of their own children.

I'd probably still head out of town for some brunch just to be safe.

How does iodine tablet shipments work? Are they sent out to everyone around a power plant after it comes online or are they sent out if there is a perceived issue?

There is a site you go to and enter your address. If your within a certain radius of the power plant, you can get sent iodine tablets to have on hand in the event of an issue.

Thanks. I'm surprised that they are not sent out automatically when a plant is brought online. It's not a huge expense to do and a heck of a lot cheaper than having to pay fines/damages because of negligence.
