According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, electrical arcing on an out-of-service Southern California Edison transmission tower sparked the 2025 Eaton Fire in Los Angeles, which killed 19 people and destroyed or damaged more than 9,400 homes and businesses.

The fire took almost a month to extinguish and burned 22 square miles, primarily effecting nearby suburbs Altadena and Pasadena — when it began on January 7, 2025.

Well, there goes my electric bill. They'll get a bailout, that'll go the banks (Black Rock, Vanguard and whatever the other 2 are).
