Pretty much in Jersey, every bullet is a class 2 felony without a CCW in your car. Have a stack of 10 bullets in your car, and that's 5 years per bullet in jail. You may as well go out shooting because youll be spending the rest of your days in jail. Worst for hollow points.

I'm living here again (long story) and have ammunition in my car often. It's perfectly legal to carry to and from the range, from the store, or if you're transporting it somewhere. It just needs to be out of reach of the occupants of the car.
Driving around with live ammo in your cup holder is a misdemeanor.
