I go with 380 +p, but having a .22 pistol or nothing, I think I'm going with a .22.

I tend to think that +p is over rated, especially in short barrels where the extra powder wont count for as much. Also it leads to dramatically increased barrel wear. But yeah, .380 is a solid defensive round, despite what the caliber snobs would say, however, with a hellcat being 9mm, they're somewhat antiquated now.

The form factor of the Ruger LCP2 is so easy to carry. 9mm would basically always bring the size up and sometimes I want to forget I have something on me. 380 +p's with the right powder for short barrels can get right up there with 9mm's. If I have to move up a class of firearm, I might as well jump to the G36 and go 45acp, 40s&w 10mm. I don't think that sweet spot of 9mm is actually a sweet spot for me because I'm usually like "I don't want to feel it" in my day to day life or I'm, time to bring something bigger. That being said, for something bigger I am looking at one of those chiappa's in 357mag. My main worry is hearing loss, that' a loud fucking round.

Hey, the best gun is the one you have with you. I've shot the old LCP, but I've heard how much better the new one is. Yeah, I think the same when people talk about keeping an AR chambered in 556 for home defense, I'm like "bro, you'd better put your ears on before you shoot that thing in a house or you'll have permanent hearing loss." Not the kind of thing I'd want to have to think about groggy and naked in the middle of the night.
