Unfortunately, that window of knowledge and orientation has closed. Those of the described age are of Boomer-Me-Generation extraction. Outliers here and there, but by and large today's Grandmas have all been careered, divorced, and undomesticated.
There’s hope. My daughters are conservative little Nazi trads. When they were 12 and 14 they made four pies from scratch for Thanksgiving dinner. You’d be surprised how many of the younger generation are pushing back against the degeneracy in modern culture.
I still know someone who graduated from a California university with a BA in home economics. Just saying:

My mother is old school. When my father died at 58, an American, she asked me what to do. I said "whatever you want to."
She also told me she would now be celibate.
I'm hoping she wants to go home to Norway but I don't know what is best for her.
You should give her time to decide, but going to her family in Norway, if only for some time, would be good for her.
