As the new line of video cards comes with PSP, I have been thinking of investing in an RX570 (or two). My question is whether it's worth it, coming from an RX550.

I know it is night and day when it comes to gaming, but what about anything else? Will I see any difference in video playback and better performance under higher resolutions? Will the extra GPU power be of any use to non-gaming applications?

Video card encoding is usually shit quality compared to CPU.

You think so? I’ve not really been able to see a huge difference. Maybe I just don’t have the eye for it.

I think this is the case when you encode a game stream, and the hardware doesn't provide separate circuits for the two jobs.
