Robert Jordan had the financial sense to start drawing The Wheel of Time out to make more books before he died without completing it. Sure, the books were becoming mostly side stories, but at least we had something to read.
The end result could be the same with Martin. I haven’t heard about him getting cancer, but he’s not the healthiest looking person. At the rate he’s going he just might die before he finishes that series.
If that happens the TV series will be the only official ending fans have. That’s worse than having no ending. Some studio owns the movie rights to The Wheel of Time, so we might get a trash ending written by some hacks, but at least for now it’s up to our imaginations.
