I love how some motorcyclists think that because lane splitting is legal in where they live that they're all of a sudden immune to the dangers associated with lane splitting, causing wrecks like this, which will perhaps lead to lane splitting being illegal again.

Guy I know is posting comments and memes on Facebook about how now it's everyone else's responsibility to keep an eye out for motorcycles because lane splitting recently became legal where he lives.

I used to split lanes when I rode. This video would have made me more thoughtful of the practice. That lady I t-boned at about 35 mph made me more hesitant of motorcycling in general

I don't think if it were legal, I'd lane split. Only because when I'm riding. I am 100% assuming other drivers cannot see me. And in this instance of splitting lanes, your options are low whe. It comes to defensive riding. Pro tip. Any time I approach a intersection where km going straight and there's are left turn lane with a vehicle, I pull left even to breach double yellow as long as there isn't cars just then, and get in front of veiw. I also swerve side to side rather aggressive to make additional movement to be seen for left turn people. Because it's the highest accident rate crashes and most dangerous. In stopped lanes. I always try to stay in Sideview mirrors, but also have escape option. Like left side of lanes. Lane splitting can be dangerous af. Slow and aware, use horn if need to or you see mofos itching to get going.

Seems like the bigger issue with lane splitting is the speed disparity between cars navigating lanes at current traffic speed, and lane splitters 2-3-4x speed flying through. I'm not looking for someone going 25mph when I'm doing 5mph. Given the setup in this video - I'm not convinced I would have been able to avoid all of this mayhem.
