I do find making coffee to be an odd chore. I absolutely think children should do chores. But I think they should be communal in nature. Cleaning, taking out trash etc. Making coffee has more of a personal secretary feel to it. To me that does feel wrong. Like, you wouldn't expect a roommate to make you coffee, especially if they don't drink any themselves. But you could reasonably expect them to empty the trash bin. And yeah, her father may provided food and a roof (or maybe he didn't and their family was on welfare or the mom was working...). But so would an orphanage.
