There could be a secondary joystick, but if the placement of the input "boxes" around the head are anything to go off of, I'd guess each "box" has a tiny button you hit with your head to move the arm a little bit.

Edit: I watched parts of the original video a few dozen more times and am convinced the helmet is 100% nonfunctional junk.

I studied thermodynamics and while I don't remember everything, I do remember you can't get more energy out of a system that you put in it. If you could get out more energy moving something through a medium than what it took to move the thing through the medium, that would solve all energy problems immediately.
