You can have lots of value in a thumb drive outside of the banking system. And send it world wide, again without the banking system and the supply can't be directly manipulated like the dollar can. Bitcoins strength isn't that it is perfect, just better when compared to the USD and banking system. Want a crypto that really could be called digital cash and used as such? Monero. That could be a real answer. But bitcoin is still new to most people, and monero virtually unknown. and like most things, normies only realize they have a problem or need something the moment the really need it and not before. They react, they are not proactive about anything.
