Big cities are pissed off that they don't get free money to line their pockets and go into the void because the plan would prioritize rural areas to get them a internet connection they were promised since the Bill Clinton era.
Just more big cities trying to F-over small and rural areas because "We have more people. We matter more".
Good internet in small and rural towns would decrease the amount of people moving to big cities not just for services but also for work. Especially after the last 2 years showed how many people can work remotely.
The big cities know this and are freaking out now that a huge amount of medium to high income workers have left their shitty hell-holes for a more pleasant and quitter life. They can no longer access their taxes to keep their hell-holes running while still padding their pockets.
