I didn't realize you are in Russia. I've followed the Sheekoz family (m.youtube.com) on YT a few years now to see what sanctions were doing to average Russians. Gas prices (m.youtube.com), food prices (m.youtube.com) and normal life in Russia. Very nice family. Yes, the average salary there is pretty low by American standards, but affordable energy, housing and food seem to make up for it.

It was even cheaper a decade ago. I didn't realize how good we had it then. It's even better if you get a good paying job overseas and come back a millionaire in your 30s and retire. Probably not so easy these days, though. Another thing about Moscow is that it's a world apart from the rest of Russia. Everything is different there, and you can expect prices and expenses to be even higher. You can also expect the pay to be a little better, but not too much. Moscow is also huge, with many city-sized areas in it, so they had to have the best public transportation in the country, but at the same time commuting takes a lot of time and it's quite a journey, hopping from bus to train to tram to subway and then walking for half an hour, every day. One of my friends has to do that just to get to work.

I took a couple of Russian history classes in college circa late 1970s. I'd really love to see Russia, especially Moscow someday. I'm getting old so I better do it soon if I'm going to ever make it happen.
