That’s a very corrupt and dangerous area down there. James better be careful, it is full on cartel territory and they will fire upon you if you intentionally fuck with their operations to the point they see no other choice. It is a major drug smuggling area. Armed Mexican army and police are well known for border incursions in the area as well. As for the locals it is very difficult to tell who is on the take and who isn’t. A lot of Plato o Plomo cases and plain old shitbags infest the area. It’s an absolutely beautiful area, rugged as can be with spotters all over directing “traffic”. It’s just a matter of time before something bad happens down there, but I said that thirty years ago about it. It’s almost like it’s allowed to happen….
