I had a law class in grade 11 or 12, we took a trip to a court. Before going, my teacher gave us a lineup of the cases that we were going to see, and what she expected some of the arguments to be for the prosecution and defense, along with what the sentences should be. The last case we saw was something like a guy got a couple of speeding tickets or excess speeding, nothing too serious, and was trying to get it reduced or thrown out, and he represented himself. Our teacher told us before to either expect it getting thrown out or the fine would stick. The judge decided to give this guy 2 years of being locked up. Our teacher told us after we left the court that most likely happened because the judge wanted to give us a show. What a way to teach us that the courts are corrupt as fuck, and that they toy with people' lives. His white privilege REALLY fell through for him that day.
