Anyone who uses a mega bank deserves whatever happens. Keep it local. Small bank or credit union.

I was in a nasty breakup and my ex kept threatening to call my credit union and mess with my accounts. I had a friend who said her bank was great and to open an account there because he'd never know. It was freaking Wells Fargo. I was desperate and had my credit union send them 1k. Guess what? Through some mysterious process WF never got it. My bank sent it and it went through. I got my bank on the phone with the manager in an office and he told the lady that nope they never got it. It was just gone. I had to pay fees to close the account I never once used. I was out 1k and whatever the fees were. I want to say it was close to 100$.

I then spoke in depth to my credit union and told them about the threats. They put all kinds of notes on my account and helped me open accounts he didn't know about and couldn't find out about. They were amazing and I should have spoken to them first, but I trusted my friend. Big banks are out to steal from you, period.
